Delete your Mintboxd account
This page explains how to delete your account and data for the
Mintboxd app: the Android app
(package com.mintboxd.app) and the iPhone app. The app is
published by Murat Bayraktar, the developer and the controller of your
data. Deleting your account is free and does not require you to
contact us if you can open the app.
Option 1: delete your account in the app
You need to be signed in. The labels below are the ones shown in the app (English language setting).
Android
- Open the Profile tab and open the menu at the top.
- Choose Account Center.
- At the bottom of the list, tap Delete Account.
- Read the warning and tap Delete Permanently.
- Confirm with your password, then tap Permanently delete my account.
iPhone
- Open the Profile tab and open the menu at the top.
- Choose Account settings, which opens Account Center.
- At the bottom of the list, tap Delete Account.
- Read the warning and tap Delete Permanently.
- Verify it is you with your password, or with Sign in with Apple or Google if that is how you created the account, and confirm.
The deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. There is no waiting period and no way for us to restore the account.
In the Android app the verification step currently only asks for your password. If your account was created with Google or Apple sign-in and you do not know a password for it, use Option 2 instead.
Option 2: request deletion by email
Use this if you cannot open the app, have uninstalled it, or cannot verify with a password. Send an email from the address registered on your account to support@mintboxd.com:
- Subject: Delete my Mintboxd account
- In the message, include your Mintboxd username.
We are a one-person team, so expect a reply within a few working days. We may ask a question to confirm that the request comes from the account owner before we delete anything. Deleting the app from your phone does not delete your account or data.
What is deleted
Your account data below is removed from our database immediately, in a single database transaction. Uploaded image files are removed from storage right after that (see the images item):
- Your account and profile: email address, username, display name, date of birth, bio, location, website, pronoun, avatar and banner references, the password hash, and your Apple and Google sign-in links. If you used Sign in with Apple, we attempt to revoke the Sign in with Apple authorization with Apple first. If that cannot be completed, deletion still goes ahead and you can revoke it yourself in your Apple ID settings.
- Your sessions and refresh tokens (revoked) and your device push-notification tokens. An access token already issued to a signed-in device stays valid until it expires, at most 15 minutes after it was issued.
- What you created: collection entries and their history, reviews, ratings, comments, lists, shelves, 3D scans, likes, follows, notifications, search and view history, and the messages you sent.
- Comments other people wrote on your content (and replies under them), because they can no longer be shown anywhere.
- Reports and moderation log entries about you or your content, the free text you wrote in reports you filed (those reports themselves stay, see below), and the item-recognition records created from photos you took.
- Images you uploaded (avatar, banner, photos you sent in chat, shelf and collection photos, and 3D box faces unless another user's 3D model uses the same file) are removed from our image storage right after the database deletion. If the storage service is unavailable at that moment, the files may remain stored, and we cannot guarantee when, or whether automatically, they are removed.
What is kept, and for how long
- Other people's data. The messages another user sent you and the conversation itself remain for that user, because they belong to them.
- Records with the link to you removed. Catalogue contributions (tags, buy links, media you added to the shared catalogue), reports you filed about others (your report text is removed), and moderation log entries where you were the actor stay, but are no longer associated with you.
- Error reports. Crash and error reports sent to Sentry carry no account identity (see the Privacy Policy).
- Analytics. Where Firebase Analytics is enabled, Google holds pseudonymous usage data tied to an app-instance identifier, not to your account; we do not send account identifiers to it.
- Backups. Deletion from backups or logs is not guaranteed to happen at the moment you delete your account.
We set no grace period: the database deletion cannot be undone.
